Function Grapher
Plot any y = f(x) instantly. Type an expression, zoom with the buttons or drag to pan.
How it works
Type any expression in x and the grapher samples it across the visible range, drawing axes, a grid and the curve. Drag on the chart to pan; use the zoom buttons to move closer or further out. Invalid expressions show a short hint instead of a plot.
Functions you can plot
- Polynomials:
x^3 - 2*x + 1 - Trigonometry:
sin(x),cos(2*x),tan(x/4) - Roots and powers:
sqrt(x),x^0.5,abs(x) - Exponentials and logs:
exp(x),log(x)(natural log) - Constants:
pi,e
Tips for reading a graph
- Where the curve crosses the x-axis, f(x) equals zero: those are the roots.
- Steep sections mean fast change; flat sections mean slow change.
- Zoom out first to find interesting regions, then zoom in for detail.
- Compare two ideas by plotting one, noting its shape, then plotting the other.
Frequently asked questions
What expressions can I type?
Any expression in x using numbers, + - * / ^, parentheses, pi, e, and functions like sin, cos, tan, sqrt, log, exp and abs.
Why is there a gap in my curve?
Gaps appear where the function is undefined or shoots to infinity, for example 1/x at x = 0. That is correct behavior, not a bug.
Can I plot two functions at once?
This grapher plots one function at a time. Plot the first, note its shape, then plot the second to compare.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after your first visit the page keeps working offline like the rest of CalcBeam.
